Bay Central Shopping Centre is a shopping and service centre located in Tauranga, New Zealand. The shopping centre was opened in 2012 as part of a redevelopment project by Auckland International Airport Limited (AIAL), the owner and operator of Auckland Airport. AIAL acquired the site in 2007 from the former owner, Bayfair Shopping Centre Limited. The site was previously occupied by a Mitre 10 Mega store and a Warehouse store. AIAL transformed the site into a modern shopping and service centre with a mix of local and national tenants. The shopping centre has about 29 stores across various categories such as food, health, beauty, home, gift, sport, outdoor, technology, and service. Some of the major tenants include: Briscoes, Rebel Sport, Countdown Supermarket and more. The shopping centre has a variety of dining options for different tastes and budgets. Some of the popular choices include: Chapel Café, Le Petit Four, Noodle Canteen, St Pierre’s Sushi. The shopping centre is open seven days, the general opening hours are: Monday: 9.00am to 5.30pm, Tuesday - Friday: 9.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday: 9.00am to 4.00pm, Sunday: 10.00am to 4.00pm. The shopping centre has ample customer parking available for free. There are about 1400 car parks on site, including accessible parking spaces. The parking area is well-lit and monitored by CCTV cameras. The shopping centre is well serviced by public transport, with bus services to and from a bus stop at the shopping centre. The bus stop is located on Chapel Street, near the entrance to the shopping centre.
