Mid City Shopping Centre is a four-level retail complex that was built in 1988 and renovated in 2009. It is situated on the main commercial thoroughfare of Queen Street, which was established in 1840 as part of the new town of Auckland. The shopping centre occupies land that was reclaimed from the Waitematā Harbour in the late 19th century. The shopping centre was originally named Mid City Centre, but later changed its name to Mid City. Mid City Shopping Centre is owned by Mid City Holdings Limited, a company registered in New Zealand in 2006. Mid City Shopping Centre has about 20 stores and services. Some of the stores in the shopping centre include Whitcoulls, Rebel Sport, Starbucks, Burger King, Subway and Flight Centre. The shopping centre also has a nail salon, a hair salon, a massage parlour, a tattoo studio, a jewellery store, a clothing store, a gift shop, a book shop, a DVD shop, a toy shop, a stationery shop, a luggage shop and a pharmacy. Mid City Shopping Centre has a food court on the second floor, which offers a range of cuisines such as Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Thai and Turkish. There are also several cafes and restaurants nearby on Queen Street and High Street. The shopping centre is open from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm on Monday to Sunday. Mid City Shopping Centre does not have its own parking facility. However there are several public parking options nearby such as the Civic Car Park the Atrium Car Park the Victoria Street Car Park and the Chancery Car Park. The closest bus stops to Mid City Shopping Centre are on Queen Street Victoria Street East and Wellesley Street West.
